| Description: | The Multicampi University project is about the interiorization process of Learning of the Federal University of Pará, initiated in the 1980’s, during the dean José Seixas Lourenço’s administration (1985 – 1989). In the initial stage, the priority was given to the bachelor degree courses in Languages, Mathematics, History, Geography and Pedagogy. The project, besides qualifying outsider teachers, gave work opportunity for those who already had a major. The courses had interval format and gave the towns of Abaetetuba, Altamira, Castanhal, Marabá, Santarém e Soure, which were selected according to the economic development research made by the State, access to the higher education. At first, the process was independent, only receiving support from the Ministry of Education (MEC) years later after its implementation, in the 1990’s, and amplifying its action field in the 2000’s.
In this content there is the interview given by the Professor José Maria Filardo Bassalo, who, in 1958, graduated in Civil Engineering by the old School of Engineering of Pará; in 1965, he received the title of Bachelor in Physics by the University of Brasília; in 1973 and in 1975, respectively, he got the Master’s degree and the PhD titles in Physics, by the University of São Paulo. In 1961, he entered as a Teaching Instructor at the Nucleus of Physics and Mathematics of the Federal University of Pará (UFPA); in 1978 and in 1989, he became, through internal and public competitions, respectively, assistant and effective professor of the Department of Physics of the UFPA, in which he retired compulsorily on September 10th, 2005.
In this interview, the professor talks about his childhood and his basic education until he enters the Civil Engineering course of the UFPA, in 1954. He also tells how he began to interest for Mathematics and his activities as a professor in 1967 at the University. He reminds his arrest by the Military System, when he was in São Paulo. The professor also reminds his participation in the Academical Reformation in the decade of 1970; the creation of the Geophysics of the UFPA, in 1972, and the election for rector in the decade of 1984. He highlights his positioning against the Interiorization project, therefore he didn’t teach in the cities, and he considers the role of the Distance Learning in a University of the 21st century. |
