| Description: | The Multicampi University project is about the interiorization process of Learning of the Federal University of Pará, initiated in the 1980’s, during the dean José Seixas Lourenço’s administration (1985 – 1989). In the initial stage, the priority was given to the bachelor degree courses in Languages, Mathematics, History, Geography and Pedagogy. The project, besides qualifying outsider teachers, gave work opportunity for those who already had a major. The courses had interval format and gave the towns of Abaetetuba, Altamira, Castanhal, Marabá, Santarém e Soure, which were selected according to the economic development research made by the State, access to the higher education. At first, the process was independent, only receiving support from the Ministry of Education (MEC) years later after its implementation, in the 1990’s, and amplifying its action field in the 2000’s.
In this content there is the interview given by the Professor Sinfrônio Brito Moraes, who is an associated director of the Research Support Foundation of the State of São Paulo (FADESP) and an associated professor IV at the UFPA nowadays. He has degree in Mechanic Engineering (1978), by the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), master’s degree in Mechanic Engineering too (1983) by the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and he is PhD in Electric Engineering (2010), by the UFPA.
In this interview, the professor talks about his militancy in the year of 1984, period in which he participated of the election for rector in the UFPA. He also highlights his experience as a coordinator of the Mechanic Engineering course, in the beginning of the Interiorization; he highlights the resistance of some professors to teach in the interior; besides, he mentions the implementation of the Engineering course in Marabá, southeast of Pará, and he also talks about the expansion of the engineering courses to the interior of the State. The professor also talks about his absorption of the students, exits of the university, the job market, as well as the Interiorization Project, which was a model for other universities. |
