| Description: | This content, which is part of the multimedia material of the book Borderless Education in the Amazon: trajectory and perspectives of the UFPA distance learning, brings the report given by the of professor Guilhermina Pereira, who underlines that the Distance Learning Program at the Federal University of Pará started with the training of literacy teachers project developed by the Languages course. There was an initial experience in Santarém town with a presencial course, having being verified that it was needed to think of another offer way, because of the professors’ difficulties to absent for the classes. This way, after participating in a specialization course on distance learning offered by the UFPA, this learning method was chosen to attend the demand of literacy teachers in Santarém. She underlines that, among the distance learning advantages, the literacy teachers’ professors became more interested and the repetition and evasion rates among the alphabetization students were reduced. She also emphasizes the importance of written material which was produced with a dialogic language to support the classes and to release a new teaching method (alphabetization with textual language). The initial difficulties were only about this new method and they were solved with positive results at the professionals’ improvement and training level. She finalizes emphasizing the video elaboration as the only support technology to the written material. |
