| Description: | The Multicampi University project is about the interiorization process of Learning of the Federal University of Pará, initiated in the 1980’s, during the dean José Seixas Lourenço’s administration (1985 – 1989). In the initial stage, the priority was given to the bachelor degree courses in Languages, Mathematics, History, Geography and Pedagogy. The project, besides qualifying outsider teachers, gave work opportunity for those who already had a major. The courses had interval format and gave the towns of Abaetetuba, Altamira, Castanhal, Marabá, Santarém e Soure, which were selected according to the economic development research made by the State, access to the higher education. At first, the process was independent, only receiving support from the Ministry of Education (MEC) years later after its implementation, in the 1990’s, and amplifying its action field in the 2000’s.
In this content there is the interview given by the Professor Raymundo Heraldo Maués, who, nowadays, is an emeritus professor of the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) and Grant Holder 1B of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). He works as a volunteer professor at the UFPA, being a permanent professor of the Program of Post-Graduation in Social Sciences (PPGCS) in the same University. He is also a permanent professor of the Program of Post-Graduation in Religion Sciences (PPGCR) of the State University of Pará and collaborator of the Program of Post-Graduation in Nursing of the UFPA. He is, still, member of the Board of Directors of Asociación de Cientistas Sociales de la Religión del Mercosur/ACSRM, during the biennium 2011-2013, having been elected in November of 2011 in Punta del Este, Uruguay, as one of the two Brazilian representatives.
He is Bachelor and has a degree in History (1962) by the UFPA, master’s degree in Anthropology (1977) by the University of Brasília and he is PhD in Social Anthropology (1987) by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro/National Museum.
In this interview, the professor talks about the history of his family constitution, in Abaetetuba, besides his basic education in Belém. He tells about his participation in student political movements and in groups of catholic youth, before entering the History course of the UFPA, in 1959. He also tells his acting as a president of the academic directory of the Department of Philosophy and Human Sciences, his participation in the strike of 1962, as well as his arrest by the Military System in 1969. He mentions the importance of the 7th Brazilian Meeting of Anthropology, held in Belém, in 1966, the formation of the Anthropology course, the creation of the Teachers’ Association of the UFPA (ADUFPA) and the relevance of the Nucleus of Amazon High Studies (NAEA) for the creation of other courses in the UFPA. |
